C&R handguns over 50 years old  ▪  California DOJ roster handguns

Your California FFL has the final say at transfer. Magazines over 10 rounds do not ship to California.

Buying a gun online from Texas and shipping it to California works when the seller has already done the homework. Every firearm on this page has been checked against California’s assault-weapon feature rules, the 10-round magazine limit and, for handguns, the DOJ Certified Handguns Roster or a Curio & Relic exemption. It ships to your California FFL, who runs the DROS, the background check and the 10-day wait. Collectors: most of our SKS, K98k Mauser, Mosin-Nagant, M1 Garand, M1903 Springfield and Arisaka rifles are California legal as they sit.

How shipping a firearm to California works

1. Order. Add the firearm to your cart. At checkout, choose your California FFL from the dealer finder or enter its license details.

2. We ship. We verify the dealer’s license and ship insured to that FFL. Compliant Service conversions are completed before the firearm leaves Texas.

3. Pick up. Your California FFL runs the DROS and background check. After the 10-day wait, you complete the transfer in person.

California buyer FAQ

Can I buy a gun online from Texas and have it shipped to California?

Yes. Old Steel Arsenal is a licensed dealer in Plano, Texas. Pick a firearm from this page, enter your California FFL at checkout, and we ship insured to that dealer. Your California FFL completes the DROS, background check and 10-day waiting period, and you pick up there. No sales tax is charged outside Texas.

What makes a rifle California legal?

Bolt-action, lever-action, pump-action and break-action rifles and shotguns are not restricted by California’s assault-weapon rules. Centerfire semi-automatic rifles must have either a fixed magazine of 10 rounds or fewer or a featureless configuration. Fixed-magazine military rifles such as the SKS, M1 Garand and FN-49 ship as listed.

Which handguns can ship to California?

Handguns on the California DOJ Certified Handguns Roster ship as listed. Curio & Relic handguns more than 50 years old and single-shot pistols can qualify under roster exemptions. Your California FFL confirms eligibility before the transfer.

What is the Compliant Service?

Some rifles are not California legal as listed but can be converted. Add the Compliant Service to your cart with the firearm and our gunsmith converts it to a California-compliant configuration, typically a fixed magazine or featureless setup, before it ships.

Do magazines ship to California?

Magazines over 10 rounds do not ship to California. If a listing includes a larger magazine, it is removed before shipping.

Who decides whether a firearm can transfer in California?

Your California FFL has the final say at transfer. We check every firearm on this page individually, but the receiving dealer applies the law as it stands on the day of the transfer. If you are unsure about a specific firearm, contact us before ordering.
