This Mauser Model 1914 semi-automatic pistol is chambered in .32 ACP (7.65mm Browning) and carries serial 4867xx. It is in excellent condition, with almost all of the bluing and straw finish present. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The pistol comes with one magazine and an original leather holster.
The Model 1914 was Mauser’s larger 7.65mm Browning version of the 6.35mm Model 1910 pocket pistol designed by Josef Nickl, and it shares its action with the improved “New Model” 1910 pistols. It is a single-action, striker-fired blowback design fed from an eight-round detachable box magazine, and the slide locks open when the magazine is empty or removed; inserting a loaded magazine into an open slide lets the slide close and chamber a round. Introduced in the German Empire in 1914, the pistol served with German military and police forces in World War I and again in World War II, and it was also used in Finland and China and sold widely in civilian markets between the wars. Production reached roughly one million pistols, and the design was later updated as the Model 1934. Collectors catalog the Model 1914 as one of the principal German pocket pistols of the first half of the twentieth century.
