Lot Notes

Finnish Tikkakoski (Tikka) 1943-barreled Mosin-Nagant rifle in 91/30 configuration, chambered in 7.62×54R, built on an 1898-dated Izhevsk Imperial Russian hex receiver bearing the visible Tsar’s double-headed eagle crest. Because the receiver predates 1899, this rifle qualifies as an antique and is not classified as a firearm under the Gun Control Act — it can ship directly to the buyer’s door with no FFL transfer required. The barrel is “D”-marked, the Finnish designation indicating the chamber throat was reamed to accept the Finnish D166 heavy ball cartridge (.310″).

The rifle is Finn matching and in excellent mechanical condition, with no small parts missing and sling loops present. The metal retains some of its original finish, and the bore is a mirror with sharp rifling. The stock is in excellent condition, showing only very few scratches and dings. This is a highly desirable combination for the Finnish Mosin collector: an original Imperial-crested 1898 hex receiver — legally antique — mated to a wartime 1943 Tikka barrel and finished as a matching, D-marked Finnish rifle. It presents as an outstanding, honest example with strong original character, a superb bore, and the convenience of direct-to-door antique shipping.
