This Pedersoli rolling block is chambered in .45-70 Government and carries a 24.5 inch
barrel with a color case hardened receiver. Condition is excellent and like new, with
fewer than 20 rounds fired through it, and the bore is mirror bright.
Davide Pedersoli & Co. builds reproductions of historical firearms, including the
Remington rolling block, and this rifle is a modern Pedersoli product rather than an
original nineteenth century Remington. The company was founded in 1957 in Italy, began
with hunting shotguns and moved into muzzle-loading arms through the 1960s, and remains
family managed from Gardone Val Trompia following the death of its founder in 1996. The
firm’s production is largely self-contained: by 1982 it was making 100 percent of the
metal and wood parts in its muzzleloaders in-house. Modern methods sit alongside the
traditional styling, with designs created on CAD software, mock-ups generated with 3D
printers, and prototype firearms fully tested in an onsite shooting tunnel. Pedersoli
offers the rolling block pattern across a range of sporting, target and long range
configurations. In the United States, Pedersoli products are distributed through Italian
Firearms Group of Amarillo, Texas.
