Harrington & Richardson (H&R) U.S. Rifle M1 Garand chambered in .30-06 Springfield, serial number 56267xx. This rifle still retains its CMP Service Grade tag dated 2010 and appears unfired since being sold by the CMP—the original grease remains intact with no signs of carbon fouling. It is in excellent mechanical condition with a mirror bore and sharp rifling, and retains almost all of its parkerized finish. The stock bears a DoD eagle-with-star cartouche and a circle-P proof mark. The rifle is fitted with an HRA trigger group and an HRA barrel dated 4-55 (April 1955), paired with a Springfield Armory (SA) bolt and SA op rod.
H&R Arms Company produced M1 Garands under U.S. government contract from 1953 until May 1956, delivering roughly 428,600 rifles. This rifle’s serial falls within H&R’s assigned block of 5,488,247 to 5,793,847, which—combined with the April 1955-dated barrel—places it in 1955 production. Rifles sold through the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) that retain their original grading tags are increasingly collected, particularly examples that remain in as-issued, apparently unfired condition.
