Lot Notes

“dou” 1943 German Mauser K98k bolt-action rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser (7.92×57mm). The “dou” code identifies production by Waffenwerke Brünn, Werk Bystrica (Považská Bystrica), one of the wartime works operating under German control, dated 1943. This example is non-imported, with a “bO”/”dou”-marked barrel and various inspection marks found on the barrel and receiver. The Wehrmacht eagle (Waffenamt) acceptance stamps are present and non-defaced throughout the rifle. The rifle is non-matching.

Mechanically the rifle is in excellent condition. The bore is mostly bright with strong rifling. The K98k was the standard-issue German service rifle of World War II, and “dou”-coded Brünn/Bystrica examples with intact, non-defaced Waffenamt eagle markings are of strong interest to WWII and Mauser collectors. As a non-imported, mechanically excellent rifle with a strong bore and clear original wartime markings, this K98k presents as an honest service piece and a solid representative of German wartime production.
