The CZ 85 is the fully ambidextrous evolution of the legendary CZ 75, produced by Česká Zbrojovka Uherský Brod. Chambered in 9×19mm, it retains the CZ 75’s all-steel construction, high-capacity magazine, and renowned DA/SA action while adding ambidextrous safety and slide-stop controls. “Pre-B” pistols are the earlier variants produced before the addition of the firing-pin block safety, of particular interest to CZ collectors, while transitional examples bridge that change. Because these earlier pistols lack the firing-pin block plunger fitted to later B-series and current-production CZs, they are widely regarded as having noticeably smoother, cleaner triggers — the omitted safety mechanism removes the drag it introduces to the trigger pull.
