U.S. Springfield Armory M1 Garand M1D rifle chambered in .30-06, serial number 48144, with a 24-inch barrel marked “S-A-3-52” on the right side. This early-production M1 Garand was originally completed in mid-1940 as a gas trap model and was later overhauled as an M1D gas port rifle. The rifle is fitted with a correct original M84 telescopic sight, an apparently original scope mount, and a scope base showing the correct four-point staking on the left side.
The rifle includes a T105E1 aperture rear sight, front sight with protective ears, T-37 prong-type flash suppressor, cross-slot gas cylinder lock screw, SA-marked operating rod with safety cut, SA-marked bolt, WRA CM-marked trigger housing, SA safety and hammer, and stamped trigger guard.includes a brown leather lace-on cheekpiece faintly marked “MRT / 52,” and a Model 1907 brown leather sling with steel hooks. Metal parts retain about 90%+ of a dark arsenal rework parkerized finish with light wear. Bore is mirror like, and the M84 scope optics appear clear and serviceable.
