Lot Notes

Russian SKS (SKS-45) semi-automatic carbine chambered in 7.62×39mm, manufactured at the Tula Arsenal in 1954. This is an all-matching example in excellent condition that appears to be unfired — the chamber and barrel show no carbon or brass residue. The bore is a mirror, and the carbine is in excellent mechanical condition, complete with the cleaning kit stowed in the buttstock trap.

The SKS-45, designed by Sergei Simonov and adopted by the Soviet Union in 1945, is the original Russian pattern from which the many Chinese, Yugoslav, and other variants were derived. Russian-produced examples — particularly all-matching Tula Arsenal guns — are the most desirable SKS carbines among collectors, prized for their milled receivers and quality construction. An all-matching 1954 Tula example that appears unfired, with a mirror bore and no fouling in the chamber or barrel, is an exceptional find, presenting essentially as it left the arsenal. Featuring the folding blade bayonet and fixed 10-round magazine of the classic pattern and complete with its buttstock cleaning kit, this is a standout collector-grade Russian SKS.
