The Norinco 1911A1 is a Chinese-manufactured copy of the U.S. M1911A1, produced by China North Industries Corporation (Norinco). Its frame, slide, and internal components are forged steel rather than cast or MIM parts, and Norinco is widely reported to have used a harder chromoly alloy—commonly identified as AISI 5100-series—in place of the 4140-series steel typical of most 1911 manufacturers.
