Lot Notes

Harrington & Richardson (H&R) U.S. Rifle M1 Garand chambered in .30-06 Springfield, serial number 57115xx, fitted with an HRA barrel dated 12-55 (December 1955). The bore is mirror bright with sharp rifling, and the rifle is in excellent mechanical condition, retaining almost all of its parkerized finish. It is assembled with a Springfield Armory (SA) bolt, SA op rod, and SA trigger assembly. The rifle comes complete with cleaning tools stored in the buttstock trap and a GI sling.

H&R Arms Company produced M1 Garands under U.S. government contract from 1953 until May 1956, delivering roughly 428,600 rifles. Serial number 5711517 falls within H&R’s assigned block of 5,488,247 to 5,793,847, which—combined with the December 1955-dated barrel—places this rifle in late-1955 production. As a later post-WWII contract rifle, the H&R Garand is collected as a distinct variation alongside wartime Springfield Armory and Winchester production.
