U.S. Model 1917 “American Enfield” bolt-action rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield, manufactured by Eddystone. This example is in excellent condition, retaining approximately 98% of its parkerized finish. The stock is excellent with only minor handling marks and bears two “RIA” (Rock Island Arsenal) rebuild cartouches in square boxes, while the left side of the receiver shows the U.S. Ordnance flaming-bomb stamp. The Remington-made barrel is dated 11-18 (November 1918) and is bright with sharp rifling. The rifle comes with an unmarked Kerr “NoBuckl” sling.
The Model 1917 was the most widely produced American service rifle of World War I, built by Eddystone, Remington, and Winchester in .30-06, with Eddystone the largest producer. This rifle later passed through Rock Island Arsenal for rebuild — as indicated by its RIA stock cartouches, flaming-bomb Ordnance mark, parkerized finish, and correct-era Remington replacement barrel — and presents today in excellent, well-kept condition. With 98% finish, an excellent stock, a bright and sharp bore, and a sling, this is a very desirable example of the M1917 for the U.S. martial arms collector.
