Springfield Armory U.S. Rifle M1 Garand, serial number 5498xx, chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO (.308 Winchester). Originally produced in approximately 1942 in .30-06 Springfield, this rifle has been rebarreled and converted to 7.62 NATO using a full-length Arlington Ordnance barrel. Aside from the barrel, it is built with all Springfield Armory parts. The bore is mirror bright with sharp rifling, the rifle retains almost all of its parkerized finish, and it is in excellent mechanical condition. It comes with a GI sling and a cleaning kit stored in the buttstock.
The M1 Garand was the standard-issue U.S. service rifle of World War II and the Korean War, originally chambered in .30-06 Springfield. Arlington Ordnance of Arlington, Virginia produced 7.62×51mm NATO conversions of surplus Garands, rebarreling wartime receivers to run the widely available .308/7.62 NATO cartridge.
