Lot Notes

Austrian Steyr M.95 straight-pull short rifle with “15” Austrian acceptance date, indicating 1915 acceptance. The rifle retains its original blue finish with light wear and minor spotting. The stock is in good condition with moderate wear and chipping. It remains mechanically excellent, with a bright bore and sharp rifling. The bolt is still packed in cosmoline, adding to its preserved surplus character.
All arsenal force-matched numbers are matching, giving this rifle good surplus collector appeal while accurately reflecting its later arsenal-matched status. The Steyr M.95 is a distinctive Austro-Hungarian straight-pull military rifle, known for its fast straight-pull bolt system and compact short-rifle/carbine configurations. With its 1915 acceptance date, matching force-matched numbers, cosmoline-packed bolt, excellent mechanics, bright sharp bore, and honest service wear, this M.95 is a solid example for collectors of European straight-pull rifles and WWI-era military surplus arms.
