The M91/59 is a Cold War-era carbine created by arsenals shortening existing M91/30 rifles to carbine length in and around 1959, from which the “91/59” designation derives. This example retains its original 1943 Izhevsk receiver markings — including the interesting dual old- and new-style factory stamps — and is marked “91/59.” These carbines handle much like the M44 but without the permanently attached folding bayonet. Produced by reworking wartime rifles, all-matching examples in like-new condition are increasingly desirable to Mosin-Nagant collectors and surplus shooters alike.
