Izhevsk-arsenal Mosin-Nagant M44 carbine chambered in 7.62×54R, dated 1945 and arsenal refurbished. The numbers are matching with the exception of the bolt, which is non-matching. The metal remains in excellent condition, retaining almost all of its bluing, and the carbine comes with a sling. The bore is darkened but retains strong rifling. The stock shows signs of having been sanded, consistent with arsenal refurbishment.
The M44 is the carbine variant of the Mosin-Nagant, distinguished by its shorter barrel and permanently attached side-folding cruciform bayonet, adopted late in World War II. This 1945 Izhevsk example is an arsenal-refurbished carbine — as most surviving M44s are — presenting with excellent metal and nearly all of its bluing intact, a strong-rifled bore, and a matching-numbered configuration apart from the bolt. Offered with a sling, it makes an attractive and affordable Mosin-Nagant carbine for both the surplus collector and the shooter.
