Lot Notes

Spanish Model 1943 (M43) Mauser short rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser (7.92×57mm), in like-new condition. This example has an uncrested receiver bearing no factory markings — a characteristic of the late-production M43s produced for commercial and export sale rather than military issue, which left the La Coruña arsenal without the deeply struck crest and date found on standard Spanish service rifles. All numbers are matching, and the rifle carries a notably low three-digit serial number, "276." The stock bears a "P" stamp along with various small circle stamps. The bore is a mirror with sharp rifling.

The M43 is the Spanish Mauser short rifle, a K98k-pattern design manufactured by Fábrica de Armas La Coruña from the 1940s into the mid-1950s in 8mm Mauser, serving the Spanish Army, Navy, and Guardia Civil. While the majority carry the prominent La Coruña crest, uncrested commercial/export examples are a distinct and less commonly encountered variant. Presenting in like-new condition with a mirror bore, sharp rifling, matching numbers, and an unusual low serial number, this uncrested M43 is an interesting and clean example of the type for the Mauser collector and shooter alike.
