Lot Notes

Series 32 Kokura-manufactured Type 99 Arisaka rifle with full chrysanthemum mum intact and dust cover present. This is a nice captured Type 99 example, with the metal retaining most of its factory bluing. It remains mechanically very good, with tight lockup and a smooth action. The bolt is matching, while the dust cover is not matching.
The bore is partially darkened but retains distinct grooves and lands. This rifle has the anti-aircraft rear sight wings present and includes the correct cleaning rod. It is a late variant with no monopod hole. The rifle also comes with a wire bail type sling, adding to its military presentation. Series 32 Kokura Type 99 rifles are desirable Japanese WWII service rifles, and examples with the full mum still present are especially attractive to collectors because many rifles had the mum ground or defaced after surrender. With its intact mum, matching bolt, retained factory blue, dust cover, correct cleaning rod, sling, and strong mechanical condition, this rifle presents as a solid captured Type 99 collector example.
