Lot Notes

Belgian FN Browning High Power (GP35) semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9×19mm, manufactured in 1954 and Silesia marked — a commercial-market pistol distributed through Silesia, one of the German commercial distributors (alongside Akah, Geco, and Norris) whose names FN applied to Hi-Powers sold through them. This example wears its original red-back walnut grips, has all matching numbers, retains 98%+ of its bluing, and appears to be unfired. It comes complete with its original High Power box, safety notice, and manual.

The Browning High Power, designed by John Browning and completed by Dieudonné Saive, was produced by Fabrique Nationale in Herstal, Belgium, and is one of the most widely adopted service and sporting pistols of the 20th century, prized for its 13-round capacity and excellent handling. The “Silesia” marking — normally found under the bluing on the left upper trigger-guard web — identifies this as a factory commercial-distribution pistol rather than a military-contract gun. This is an exceptional early-1950s example: all-matching, retaining better than 98% of its original blue, fitted with the desirable early red-back walnut grips, and appearing unfired — and, remarkably, still accompanied by its original box, safety notice, and manual. A complete, boxed, apparently unfired 1954 FN High Power in this condition is a standout collector-grade piece.
