The Hakim is Egypt’s semi-automatic battle rifle of the 1950s, produced at the Maadi factory using tooling acquired from Sweden and based on the Swedish Ljungman AG-42 design — but re-chambered from 6.5×55mm to the harder-hitting 8mm Mauser. It is a gas-operated, direct-impingement rifle feeding from a 10-round detachable box magazine, with an adjustable gas regulator and a distinctive muzzle brake. Robust, well-made, and produced in limited numbers, the Hakim is a desirable and increasingly scarce Cold War military rifle among collectors of semi-automatic battle rifles and Middle Eastern surplus. This example presents in excellent mechanical condition with a bright, sharp-rifled bore and includes its sling.
