Lot Notes

Mauser banner “Standard-Modell” bolt-action rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser (7.92×57mm), bearing the Mauser banner trademark. This example has frosted bore with strong rifling and is mechanically excellent. The stock shows an attractive tiger-stripe figure, and the rifle retains nearly all of its reapplied finish. No import mark is present, and the major parts — bolt, magazine, receiver, and barrel — are numbers matching.

The Mauser Standard-Modell was a commercial military-pattern rifle produced by Mauser-Werke at Oberndorf in the interwar period, marked with the distinctive Mauser banner and serving as a training, contract, and export arm closely related to the later K98k. Banner-marked Mausers are sought after by collectors as quality commercial Oberndorf products. This example presents attractively, with a handsome tiger-stripe stock, a mostly bright and sharply rifled bore, excellent mechanics, matching major components, and no import markings; its finish has been honestly noted as reapplied. A desirable and good-looking banner Mauser for the collector and shooter.
