The FV-SR is the short, thick-barreled member of the Mark II family and the one most people buy with a suppressor in mind. The 16.5-inch heavy barrel comes threaded 1/2×28 from the factory, so a can or muzzle device screws straight on with no gunsmithing, and the extra barrel mass keeps the rifle steady off a bag or bipod despite the short length. The blued finish is matte and the barrel is button rifled.
Underneath it is a standard Mark II, which is the reason these have been a rimfire benchmark for years. The AccuTrigger is user-adjustable and breaks cleanly without the creep common at this price, and it blocks the sear against a drop or a jarred rifle. The receiver is drilled and tapped and ships with no iron sights, so the rifle is built around glass from the outset. Feeding is from a detachable box magazine.
